China ready to play a role in Sahara conflict and wants to enhance cooperation with Morocco

Asharq Al Awsat: in a diplomatic initiative, the first of its kind since the outbreak of the Sahara dispute, China expressed its willingness «to play a positive role for the settlement of the Sahara issue hoping an appropriate solution to this issue will be achieved through dialogue and consultations within the framework of the United Nations».

Jeune Afrique: His Majesty King Mohammed VI has brought life back to the Royal Advisory Council for Saharan Affairs which had a "central role in setting up autonomy" of the southern provinces. The weekly highlighted, in a 35-page special issue devoted to development and in the southern provinces in various fields, that Morocco has invested at least 20 billion dirhams in the Territories to provide basic infrastructure.

Khalihenna: the project will change Morocco's features

Mohit: The chairman of the Royal Advisory Council for Saharan Affairs said that autonomy would change Moroccan features since it is a bold constitutional move presented by Morocco to satisfy a part of its citizens who rebelled in the past against problems that existed then. It would also allow to the Sahara people handle their political and economic affairs.
