Morocco’s participation in the 39th Summit of Heads of State and Government of the African Union (AU) provided an opportunity to highlight the central role played by the Kingdom, under the enlightened leadership of HM King Mohammed VI, in promoting collective African action and further strengthening its relations with countries across the continent, said the Head of Government Aziz Akhannouch on Saturday in Addis Ababa.

Morocco’s election to the African Union Peace and Security Council (AU PSC) in a first-round vote is a strong acknowledgment of HM King Mohammed VI’s role in maintaining peace and stability in Africa, said Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccan Expatriates Nasser Bourita on Wednesday in Addis Ababa.

During a US Senate hearing held on Tuesday on counterterrorism in North Africa, lawmakers raised concerns over confirmed links between the Polisario separatist group and terrorist and extremist movements operating in the region and the Sahel—particularly those connected to Iran and the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), which Washington has designated a foreign terrorist organization.

The 15th session of the Association Council between Morocco and the European Union (EU), which concluded Thursday in Brussels, was marked by the adoption of a new European stance on the Moroccan Sahara, deeming that "genuine autonomy could be among the most feasible solutions" for the final resolution of the regional dispute.

The Republic of Senegal reiterated its firm and steadfast support for the Kingdom of Morocco's territorial integrity and sovereignty over its entire national territory, including the Sahara region.
