Works the second regular session of the Royal Advisory Council for Saharan Affairs opened on Thursday 20 December 2006 in Rabat. The session was marked by speech of the minister in charge of housing and reconstruction, in which he highlighted the Housing and Reconstruction Program in the southern regions.

In a speech at the opening meeting of the two-day session, attended by Mr. Fouad Ali El Himma, minister delegated at the Interior, the minister delegated in charge of housing and urbanism, Mr. Ahmed Toufiq Hjira gave the broad lines of the housing project which will be implemented in the Kingdom’s southern provinces.

Mr. Khalihenna Ould Errachid, President Royal Advisory Council for Saharan Affairs held on Tuesday December 19, 2006 in Rabat, discussions with Ms. Herta Doblair Gimelein Chairperson of the Commission on Human Rights at the German parliament. Mrs. Herta Doblair Gimelein stated in a statement to the press that talks focused on the autonomy in the southern regions, indicating that the President of the Royal Advisory Council for Saharan Affairs have provided explanations on this initiative and wished "good luck for this project."
