Gabon reiterated its support and encouragement for the Moroccan autonomy initiative, which presents "credible and reassuring prospects", not only to end the current impasse but also to reach a settlement to the Sahara issue.

Guinea said on Friday in New York that the Moroccan autonomy plan has the merit of "transcending traditional divergent positions" and laying the foundations for an effective autonomy of the Sahara through the establishment of executive, legislative and judicial bodies with their own powers.
