The European Union (EU) reiterated on Monday at the UN, its "total support" to the process initiated under the aegis of the United Nations to reach a political settlement of the artificial dispute over the Moroccan Sahara, while supporting request by the Security Council to make census of the populations in Tindouf camps.

The results in the southern provinces after the parliamentary elections of October 7  2016 show, as in previous national elections, particularly high participation rates in this part of the Kingdom.

 Ahmed Lakhrif, member of the Royal Advisory Council for Saharan Affairs (CORCAS), said that only the officials  democratically and transparently elected by the inhabitants of the southern provinces under Moroccan national elections can legitimately use the status of representatives of the people the Saharan provinces.

The campaign for the elections of October 7 arouses particular enthusiasm in the southern provinces, where we witness general mobilization to make this election sucessful for the consecration of the Moroccan democratic and singular political model .

Bahrain's foreign minister, Cheikh Khalid Bin Ahmed Bin Mohamed Al Khalifa, stressed, Monday before the 71st session of the UN General Assembly (UNGA), the need for a political settlement to the "Moroccan Sahara" issue "on the basis of the autonomy initiative," presented by Morocco.
