Ambassador Omar Hilale, Permanent Representative of Morocco to the UN, told the Security Council that terrorism and separatism are closely linked and undermine the stability and territorial integrity of States.

Algeria, the main party to the regional dispute over the Moroccan Sahara, is called upon to join in good faith the UN round-table process, in accordance with Security Council Resolution 2602, stressed petitioners before the Fourth Committee of the UN General Assembly in New York.

Guatemala reiterated, in New York, its support to Morocco's efforts to achieve a political solution to the regional dispute over the Sahara, based on the Moroccan autonomy initiative and within the framework of respect for the territorial integrity of the Kingdom and its national sovereignty.

The UN Security Council will hold during the month of October three meetings to discuss the issue of the Moroccan Sahara, with the aim of renewing the mandate of MINURSO and reaffirming support for the efforts of the UN Secretary-General and his Personal Envoy to revive the political process by bringing Algeria, the main party to the regional dispute, to resume the round-table process in accordance with the relevant resolutions, including Resolution 2602.

The Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) reaffirmed, in New York, its "firm" support to the efforts of the UN Secretary General to reach a political solution to the Moroccan Sahara issue on the basis of the Security Council resolutions adopted since 2007.
