In a statement to MAP following a meeting with the Moroccan Secretary of State in charge of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Latifa Akharbach, the German official underlined that his country éfollows with much interest and satisfaction the progress of reforms undertaken in Morocco." He added that Germany is "seeking to explore other areas where cooperation could be boosted, especially in the field of education."
Concerning the Sahara issue, Gloser said that his country has always supported a political solution to this dispute under the aegis of the United Nations.
In this respect, he recalled that Morocco submitted a proposal "worth discussing with much seriousness in the UN”, calling for a “constructive participation of all the parties concerned in this process.”
For her part, Akharbach reiterated Morocco’s call for reopening the Moroccan-Algerian borders to achieve Arab Maghreb economic integration.
During these talks, the Moroccan official briefed Gloser on the latest developments in the national cause, stressing Morocco’s determination to reach a political solution within the framework of the kingdom’s autonomy initiative.
Gunter Gloser met also with the speaker of the House of Representatives (Lower House), Mustapha Mansouri. The meeting examined different aspects of bilateral cooperation.
The two parties discussed means to strengthen bilateral ties, especially in the fields of energy, water, waste disposal and environment, in addition to several issues of common interest such as the advanced status granted by the European Union to Morocco, said a press release of the House of Representatives.
