Mr. Khalihenna Ould Rachid, chairman of the Royal Advisory Council for Saharan Affairs (CORCAS), received on Monday at the Council’s headquarters, an official delegation from Paraguay chaired by Mr. Hector Ricardo Lacognata, Minister of External Relations.



Corcas chairman explained to the Paraguayan delegation which is visiting the country for two days, the situation of the Sahara issue, greeting the position of Paraguay, which has withdrawn its recognition of the pseudo SADR in 2000 as an evolution more consistent with the guidelines of the international community to find a just political and final solution.

The meeting which was attended by Mr. Maouelainin Ben Khalihanna Maouelainin, Corcas Secretary General, Kheddad El Moussaoui, Corcas Vice-President, Moulay Ahmed Mghizlat, Corcas member, discussed also the importance of diplomatic relations between the two countries to strengthen economic, cultural and other fields.   

the Paraguay delegation includes, besides the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador of the Republic of Paraguay in Morocco with residence in Madrid, Mr. Oscar Cabello Sarubbi, Ms. Hayde Dienstmaier, Director of the Department of Asia, Africa and Oceania, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr Fabian Ybarra, Minister Assistant, Mr. Americo Cajes, Assistant to the Directorate General of Protocol and Mr. Marcos Espinola, Assistant Director of Asia, the 'Africa and Oceania.

 Statement:

Paraguay has a historical position about the Sahara issue which is the search for a political just and lasting peaceful solution. We respect the search for a solution to this conflict; I believe that within the United Nations necessary spaces are created to reach this solution.
