At the headquarters of the Wilaya of Dakhla, a memorandum was signed on Monday for the twinning of the city of Dakhla, the capital of the region of Oued Ed-Dahab-Lagouira, with the city of Honolulu, the US state of Hawaii.
This memorandum is a result of relations of friendship and cooperation between Morocco and the United States of America and the willingness of the wali of the Oued Edadhab-Lagouira region and Chairman of the town of Dakhla as well as authorities and representatives of the Morocco-Hawaii friendship Association in Honolulu, to consolidate these relations.
The memorandum was signed by the Wali of the region and governor of the province of Oued Ed-Dahab, Lamine Benomar, Presidents of the three Councils (regional councils, provincial and town councils) , namely Mami Boussif, and Sidi Ahmed Bekkar Salouh Joumani, the Hawaii-Morocco friendship Association, Hamid Ouansafi, Idriss Guerraoui, Mi Mendelson and the Honorary Consul of the Kingdom of Morocco Yann Roumi in the presence of the former governor of the state of Hawaii, Mr Nile Aberqurombi.
The coordinator of the Morocco-Hawaii Friendship Association, Mr. Idriss Guerraoui, told MAP that this signature comes, given the cooperation and partnership between the two parties and in the light of the principle of exchange of common interests and cooperative relations between politicians, economic and social actors and representatives of civil society as well as men of science and culture in both regions, starting from the general framework of the bilateral agreement of friendship and cooperation between Morocco and the United States of America.
Idriss Guerraoui explained that the signing of the protocol followed the dynamics of the statements made by the Governor of the US state of Hawaii Linda Lingel and Mr Nile Aberqurombi and Senate, following which Morocco's day is celebrated for a week between November 28 and December 4, this week is "the week of His Majesty King Mohammed VI in Hawaii."
He stressed that the two sides agreed to the twinning between the town of Dakhla and the city of Honolulu, to serve the common interests in the economic, cultural, educational, social, scientific, technological and environmental fields in the benefit of the population the two cities.
The coordinator of the Morocco-Hawaii Friendship Association noted that the twinning project between the cities of Dakhla and Honolulu will be developed before the end of the current year, waiting the signing of the agreement to coincide with "week of His Majesty King Mohammed VI in Hawaii" which will be celebrated this year November 25 and December 1, 2015.
