The sit in is meant to attract the intention of the international community on the plight in which the women of the Algerian-backed separatists' camps live, the NGOs chairman, Dahi Akai said.
He read a speech on the occasion to denounce what he worded as "savage practices" of the Polisario leadership against the women, and the continued breaches of their basic rights.
The sit in, held on the International Women's Day, urged the international community to step in to put an end to the "chaotic" situation, and to all the forms of humiliation undergone by women in the camps, located south-western Algeria.
Participants called for lifting the embargo imposed on the people held in Tindouf to enable them to come back freely to Morocco, and contribute to the development process in the Sahara, Morocco’s Southern Provinces.
The sit in also demanded international pressure to get the Polisario to unveil the fate of the hundreds of people that disappeared in their jails.
