Ms. Maoulainain, in an intervention on behalf of the Federation of Women's Action during the Council’s sixth session, drew attention to the status of women and children who are exposed daily to very harsh treatment, exploitation and abuse in these camps.
She expressed regret for "the families dispersed, exploitation of women and violation of their fundamental rights, in addition to child rights violations and acts of torture committed against thousands of Sahrawis in these camps, not to mention the complete absence of freedom of expression and democracy by people who do not accept change nor negotiations."
Ms. Saadani Maoulainain called called for "just and lasting solution to put an end to the suffering of the civilian population real victims of the conflict," asserting that expanded autonomy, which guarantees social, political and economic rights of the population in the southern provinces of Morocco is the only solution that would put an end to this suffering and bring together families separated by this artificial conflict over the Sahara.
