Morocco's ambassador in Caracas, Ibrahim Moussa, who gave a series of interviews to various media in Venezuela and Latin America to explain the scope of advanced status granted by the European Union in Morocco, reported that it reflects the reforms undertaken by Morocco and refers, inter alia, to democratization, economic openness, promoting the role of women in society, promulgation of the new Family Code, fight against poverty, social exclusion, illiteracy and insecurity, according to the Embassy of the Kingdom.

Turning to the Sahara issue, Ambassador highlighted the support by the EU negotiation process to reach a political, definitive and lasting solution to a conflict that is a residue of the Cold War.

He stressed the European support to serious and credible efforts of Morocco aimed at finding a way-out of the Sahara issue, recalling in this sense the Moroccan proposal for autonomy for the region Sahara within the framework of territorial integrity and national sovereignty of the Kingdom.

Ibrahim Moussa said that the Moroccan initiative is also supported by the international community and the last resolution adopted by the 4th Committee of the UN General Assembly stressed the efforts by the Kingdom to achieve a political solution to this regional dispute.

On the other hand, Ibrahim Moussa seized the occasion to raise the suffering and the tragedy endured by Moroccans sequestered in Tindouf camps.
