Spain voiced, here Thursday, its confidence over the success of the UN-led Sahara talks in Manhasset and its efforts to find a lasting solution that is acceptable to both parties.

"We are actively working to find a lasting solution that is acceptable to all parties and which will put an end to this conflict," declared Spanish Deputy Prime Minister, Maria Teresa De La Vega, following a meeting with the Prime minister, Abbas El Fassi.

Underlining the interest Spain takes in solving this problem, De La Vega, who paid on Wednesday a work and friendship visit to Morocco, voiced confidence over the success of the Sahara negotiations process that will resume with the appointment of a new personal representative of the General secretary of the UN to the Sahara.

In turn, El Fassi said he handed a report to the Spanish official on the latest developments of Morocco's territorial integrity issue and on the Moroccan proposition of granting Southern provinces autonomy under the Moroccan sovereignty.

Morocco's Premier said he asked for Spain’s support to find a prompt solution to this conflict on the international level because "we wish to build the Maghreb Arab and we do not want conflicts with our neighbors because of the threat of terrorism in the greater Sahara."
