"it's time for this issue to be resolved," insisted Rice in an interview Friday with the satellite TV channel  Al Arabiya, pointing out that "there's going to have to be some aspect of autonomy."

    The Secretary of State also asserted that  the United States will continue to support the UN "mediation".

    For the US official the parties "don't need to start from scratch, but they need to resolve the issue."
