The Kingdom’s southern provinces will benefit from the construction of 1,770 housing units under "Al Omrane" preliminary program to enable poor families access to housing.

According to the Ministry of Housing, Urban Development and Spatial Planning, this program involves the construction of 1,500 housing units in urban areas and 270 units in rural areas.

This new product, whose unit cost does not exceeding MAD 140,000, replies to the royal approach for human development and the fight against poverty and exclusion. It aims to diversify the supply of housing, integrate, for the first time, subsidized housing in rural areas and contribute to restoring balance supply and demand control of the property market.

This product mainly target three categories of citizens: the inhabitants of housing threatening ruin, officials of national security, public service employees, employees of the private sector and handicrafts.

The ministry has reported efforts by the State to facilitate access to this product, including exemption from taxes and financing technical studies and expertise offices fees for the program in rural areas.

The launching of this new product, in a partnership framework between the State and public or private promoters, will target the exemptions and direct support and public aid, help regulate property market and combat «le noir”, including the adoption of a controlled marketing system and promotion of regulatory housing in rural areas.

The program, which is carried out nationally during the 2008-2012 period, aims to build 129,138 homes by "Al Omrane" subsidiaries,  said the same source, estimating to 1, 13 million units the deficit in terms of housing in urban areas.
