Major Event

A delegation from Moroccan southern provinces toured this week several US cities to sensitize the American public opinion, notably the Christian community on the population sequestrated in Tindouf camps (southwest Algeria).

Since 1976, dozens of Moroccans have been held against their will in Tindouf camps by the Algeria-backed separatist movement of Polisario, which has been laying claim to Morocco's southern province (the Sahara).

During the delegation meetings, Reverend Rob Shenck of the National Clergy Council and several religious men denounced the practices of “Polisario”, which hold thousands of sequestrated hostages for propaganda ends.

Reverend Schenck also described Polisario as “corrupt mercenaries gang,” who attempt to play the role of a so-called liberation movement and contests the “thousand-year long Moroccan sovereignty over Sahara.”

This group uses physical and moral torture against “thousands of women, children and men sequestrated for over 30 years” in what he compared to “concentration camps.”

Condemning children’s indoctrination, he stressed that the polisario gang has duped numerous NGOs, including the US Christian NGOs, which sent aides that have been embezzled and sold on the black market in neighboring countries.

“We, as Christians, could not ignore a such inhuman situation. We must help those families who need our support,” he told the audience that includes religious leaders, ministers and parishioner, asking them to send a letter to State Department to denounce those practice.

Several religious leaders as Ken Jascko (Monmouth Worship Center -New Jersey), David Anderson (Faith Baptist Church of Sarasota), and bishop of “Christ the Redeemer Church” of Jacksonville, monseigneur Van Gayton, also condemned Tindouf camps sequestrated population situation.
