The Council of the Laayoune Saguia el-Hamra Region unanimously approved, during its regular session in March, a draft framework agreement for partnership between the region and Mandera County, Kenya.


This agreement, which is in line with the wise policy of His Majesty King Mohammed VI to promote South-South cooperation and strengthen Moroccan-African relations, reflects the desire of the Council of the Region of Laayoune Saguia el-Hamra and the Mandera County Council of Kenya to establish a model and pioneering cooperation in the fields of investment and business.
This agreement is based on the principles of strengthening South-South cooperation, consolidating decentralized international cooperation in the field of investments, and sharing the experience of economic development and the major development projects carried out in Laayoune Saguia el-Hamra with Mandera County, Kenya.

The agreement covers all economic activities, especially water management and renewable and clean energy sectors.

Under this agreement, the two parties are committed to providing institutional and administrative support for the implementation of its provisions, exchanging visits, and providing the necessary data and documents necessary for the success of this partnership and cooperation.

The agreement will also establish a joint leadership and follow-up committee, which will meet as often as necessary.
