Sierra Leone's Foreign Minister, Zaïnab Bangura, reaffirmed, here Monday, her country's support for Morocco's proposal to grant substantial autonomy to the Sahara region.



  At the end of a meeting with Moroccan Foreign Minister, Taieb Fassi Fihri, Mrs. Bangura also reiterated her country's support for the United Nations process to settle the Sahara issue.

    Mrs. Bangura voiced satisfaction at the excellence of relations with the kingdom of Morocco, which yield fruitful cooperation.

    For his part, Mr. Fassi Fihri said relations between the two countries have greatly developed over the past years, especially after the laudable decision of Sierra Leone to withdraw its recognition of the phony entity of polisario.

    To move forward in bilateral relations, a joint commission had held its first session during which the two parties agreed on the actions to undertake with regard to several aspects of bilateral cooperation, he said.
