Malian journalists, currently visiting the province of Laayoune, welcomed the "impressive" efforts carried out for the development of southern provinces and improvement of the quality of life of local populations, while welcoming the Moroccan autonomy initiative proposed by the Kingdom for the final settlement of the Sahara. 



The delegation, who attended the launching and inauguration of several development projects in the province of Laayoune on the occasion of the Throne Feast, also visited  social institutions and held talks with several local officials.
The Malian delegation is composed of Mr. Saouti Haidara, director of l'Indépendant newspaper, Sambi Toure,  director of "Info-matin", Tiégoum Maiga, director of " la Nouvelle République ", "Alexis Kalambry,  director of" Publication " "Cheickna Sylla, director of"l’Aube" and Boubacar Kone from the " le Malien".

In a statement to the press, Mr. Saouti Haidara has highlighted "the construction momentum seen in the southern provinces of the Kingdom", saying that members of the delegation were "impressed" by projects in this region which are "booming". "We have seen a dynamic strong development ", he continued, adding that "this strengthens our feeling that this part of Moroccan territory will be developed further to ensure the well-being of local people" " .

Mr. Haidara welcomed "the climate of peace and stability prevailing in the region, contrary to what other parties want to communicate by conveying a certain negative propaganda on the situation in the region". 

"It is a region that is developing normally. We are very surprised to see how much development and progress has been achieved ", he said.

Regarding the Moroccan autonomy initiative, Mr. Haidara has described it as a "good initiative" and "best possible solution to definitively overcome the Sahara conflict ", mentioning in this regard the positive response expressed by the international community to this initiative.

For his part, Mr. Sambi Toure said he was "quite amazed" by the reality of the situation in this region, the achievements in various fields and by the "remarkable" efforts to ensure the well-being of the local populations.

For his part, Mr. Maiga Tiégoum stressed "the quality of work that is under way to develop the region and meet the aspirations of citizens".

He said that "the great challenge of the region’s development region has been overcome", highlighting the active participation of people in the southern provinces in the development process and management of local affairs.

In addition, members of the Malian delegation emphasized  "the quality of exchanges and fruitful discussions" they had with different leaders and actors in the region, indicating that these talks were " "very constructive" and enabled them become acquainted with some points relevant to the Sahara issue and the situation in the region.
