A framework partnership agreement between the municipality of Dakhla, the municipality of Vibo-Valentia and the Calabria Roma Europa Foundation was signed on Saturday with the aim of intensifying cooperation between Italy and Morocco in the economic, culture, tourism and sports.


This agreement, which comes following the twinning signed on March 14, 2022 in Italy between Dakhla and Vibo Valentia, was initialed by the President of the Municipal Council of Dakhla, Erragheb Hormatallah, the Mayor of Vibo Valentia, Maria Limardo and the President of the Calabria Roma Europa Foundation, Dominico Naccari.


According to the three parties, this agreement opens up promising prospects for the consolidation of exchanges between the tourist, cultural, educational, academic, social and economic, public and/or private actors of the two countries.


These exchanges, according to the signed agreement, can take the form of periodic meetings, exchanges of experiences and good practices in areas of common interest between elected officials and representatives of the two communities, as well as support for exchanges initiated by the various actors of this agreement (universities, associations, economic actors and cultural associations, etc.)


The mayor of Vibo Valentia, Maria Limardo, praised the quality of development projects in various fields in Dakhla and the ambitious job-creating infrastructure that meets the challenges of the region, emphasizing the importance of consolidating ties cooperation between Italy and Morocco in all areas, particularly economic, social and cultural.


“The mild climate all year round and the rather particular geographical location of the city make Dakhla an important attraction with enormous potential”, she indicated, expressing her desire to create an airline from Dakhla to the Italy in order to strengthen the rapprochement between the two countries and the two peoples.


For his part, the president of the Calabria Roma Europa Foundation, Dominico Naccari, emphasized the strategic importance of Morocco as a door and a bridge between Europe and Africa, underlining the stability and security enjoys the Kingdom, offering a favorable framework for foreign economic operators to invest in Morocco, in this case in Dakhla.


Naccari highlighted the promising investment opportunities in Dakhla in several areas, including tourism and fishing, adding that this significant potential constitutes an essential basis for developing a fruitful and profitable partnership.


For his part, Hormatallah stressed that the signing of this agreement between the municipalities of Dakhla and Vibo Valentia is part of the efforts aimed at consolidating and strengthening relations between the Kingdom and the Italian Republic.


He noted that this agreement, which is part of the strengthening of the dynamics of international and decentralized cooperation, aims to publicize the city of Dakhla, highlight its potential and development programs, and give visibility international to the region in general.


Earlier in the day, the Italian delegation was received by the Wali of the region of Dakhla-Oued Eddahab, governor of the province of Oued Eddahab, Lamine Benomar, to examine the possibilities of investment in the region.


They also attended exhibitions and carried out field visits to learn closely about the potential of the region and the infrastructures it has in various socio-economic sectors, as well as the efforts made to ensure sustainable socio-economic development in the Dakhla region.


The delegation visited several structuring socio-economic projects, including the Regional Investment Center (CRI) of Dakhla-Oued Eddahab and the port of Dakhla.
