Several African ambassadors welcomed, Tuesday evening in Libreville, the progress made in the Southern Provinces of Morocco during a ceremony organized by the diplomatic representation of the Kingdom in Gabon in celebration of the forty-seventh anniversary of the Glorious Green March.

Egypt, Sao Tome, Côte d’Ivoire, Chad, DR Congo, Guinea, in this case, as well as Saudi Arabia took part in the celebration of this epic unlike any other, in presence of Mr. Abdou Abarry, Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary General in Central Africa and Head of the UN Regional Office for Central Africa (UNOCA).
From the outset, a group of Gabonese children announced the colors by brilliantly singing “Nidae Al Hassan” (The call of the late HM Hassan II) to the applause of an admiring audience.

Then, a video recounting the development “journey” in the southern provinces of Morocco was projected, highlighting the economic, industrial, tourist, educational, health and sports potentialities of this so important and expensive part of the Kingdom.

Speaking on this occasion, HM the King’s ambassador to Libreville, Abdellah Sbihi, underlined that the date of November 6, 1975 remains glorious for all Moroccans and “even for Africa”, given that several countries of the Continent participated in the Green March, especially Gabon.

“A new page for Morocco was turned that day,” he said.

From now on, under the impetus of HM King Mohammed VI, Moroccan diplomacy continues to shine, as evidenced by the return of Morocco to its African family, putting aside “this secessionist spirit within our Continent, this Balkanization which can only disunite us more”, underlines Mr. Sbihi.

Based on this observation, continues the Moroccan diplomat, “our African brother countries” have opened consulates in Laâyoune and Dakhla.

HM the King’s ambassador also highlighted the economic development experienced by the southern provinces under the enlightened leadership of the Sovereign, a development highlighted even more through the November 6 speech of the Green March.

Mr. Sbihi also highlighted the announcement of the implementation of the Morocco-Nigeria Gas Pipeline project which will enable African and ECOWAS countries to reduce energy dependence, which currently affects most of the countries in the world following the Russian-Ukrainian conflict.

For his part, Mr. Abdou Abarry called for building an Africa of dialogue, an Africa of peace, unity, fraternity and prosperity, which will be built on the basis of its own genius, but also on that of all support that other countries want to give it.

While making it known that the first country he visited then as a young diplomat was Morocco, the Nigerien took advantage of the circumstance to say that “as the United Nations, we want Africa to be a Continent of unity ”, regretting that “we are faced with enough difficulties, in particular the impact of climate change”.

Wherever we are, let us ensure that African unity is strengthened, that differences can be overcome, he urged, noting that there are “issues that are fundamental for our countries and for our peoples” .

“We must respect each country in the expression of its sovereignty and its sovereign choices,” he insisted.

Commenting on the projected video demonstrating the progress made in the southern provinces, Chad’s ambassador to Gabon, Moustapha Ali Alifeï, for his part, affirmed that what we have seen is decisive and embodies the policy of HM the King. Mohammed VI vis-à-vis the region of the Moroccan Sahara”.

The idea and the initiative that was taken, 47 years ago, to make the Green March consecrates the belonging of this region to Morocco, he declared to MAP, highlighting the achievements there. have been garnered for the benefit of its people.

“We can only support this idea and share with the Moroccan people our joy and our firm support so that it can go forward,” said the Chadian diplomat.

For his part, the Ambassador of Côte d’Ivoire in Libreville, Nicolas Kouakou, described in a similar statement, the progress in the southern provinces of the Kingdom as significant, noting that “the example to follow is there and in us supporting each other, we will ensure Africa the expected prosperity”.
