The Moroccan autonomy proposal for the Sahara is "immensely generous" and is "the best possible decision", said on Thursday in Rabat, the Chairman of the Professional Chamber of mediation and Negotiation (CPMN - France), M . Jean-Louis Lascoux.

At a meeting with the press on the sidelines of the first seminar on mediation in Morocco which began on Tuesday under the theme: "Mediation: a factor of socio-economic stability," Mr. Lascoux stressed that autonomy "would be the best possible way-out, given the organization of today's world."

According to the French mediator, the Moroccan proposal is likely "to allow people who are part of the same family find ways to live together, respecting cultural specificities". It suggests that "unity for parties is the best possible solution."

He also considered necessary "to bring people who are directly affected by their identity on the discussion ground around the negotiating table, meet mediators and show the courage to say I will not send my children to conflict, but I will educate them peace and pacification of relations ".

Mr. Lascoux also stressed at the meeting the importance of mediation in resolving conflicts, stressing that it is based upon the recognition of the Other and implies respect for basic rights.

Mediation, which is also an " important work on the development of relations" should promote the quality of human relations to embark on the path of sustainable development, he said, considering that it is in reality , a discipline that is learned and practised as a professional independent art. According to him, mediators are responsible for what they are committed to not intended to guide people’s thinking.

Mr. Lascoux also found that "the impact of mediation is very strong in Morocco" and highlighted the significant changes known by the Kingdom, hailing the efforts achieved mainly in terms of women's rights.
