"Moroccan patience and flexibility have finally given their results under resolution 1813 which is largely in favour of Morocco," said Nzouba Ndama in an interview with Morocco's ambassador to Libreville, M. Ali Bojji.
He praised the "wisdom" which has always guided the approach of Morocco to resolve the Sahara issue, expressing confidence that this path "will eventually prevail."
After mentioning the disastrous consequences of division and fragmentation on the future of Africa, the president of the National Assembly of Gabon has reiterated the support of his country to Morocco to complete its territorial integrity, stressing on the "ideological dimension" of the Sahara conflict, inherited from the cold war during 70s.
"I am pleased that the Security Council has adopted Resolution 1813 and shares Moroccan satisfaction" he said.
The Ambassador of Morocco informed Mr. Nzouba Ndama about the latest developments on the Sahara issue, in particular resolution 1813 which endorses the call for realism and
compromise launched by the UN Secretary-General, Mr. Ban ki-moon and his Personal Envoy, Mr. Peter Van Walsum.
The latter had insisted on "the need to respect the political reality and international legality", adding that the independence of the Sahara is "unrealistic" and "unworkable".
A few days ago, the president of Gabon, El Haj Omar Bongo had stressed that Resolution 1813 was "the best way" to resolve the Sahara issue, reaffirming the "firm" and "constant" support of his country to Morocco and the autonomy proposal as a solution to the Sahara issue.
It also welcomed that the majority of African countries support Morocco on this issue.
