The construction of a multidisciplinary faculty in the southern provinces will be launched during 2008, announced Tuesday in Laayoune, the Minister of National Education, Higher Education, Manager Training and Scientific Research, Mr. Habib El Malki. 



"In addition to the creation of a technology school, the higher education sector, management training and scientific research will also create a multidisciplinary faculty in 2008 to strengthen the university centre of which the ministry is establishing the foundations, with the involvement of elected officials and economic actors in the region, "said El Malki at the 5th session of the Governing Council of the Academy of education and training in the region of Laayoune-Boujdour-Sakia El-Hamra. 

The Minister urged the Council to take decisions that would strengthen achievements and enable the region to have an integrated system of education and training.

Among other projects in the region, Mr. El Malki mentioned the completion of the construction of a technical high school in Laayoune, the creation of preparatory classes to engineers’ high schools for the benefit of the region’s students and the introduction of new branches and specialties in the higher technical cycle according to local needs.  

Mr. El Malki, stressed, moreover, that Laâyoune regional council stands at an important moment of the educational reform system that is essentially devoted to improving the quality of teaching and rehabilitating schools in their role in training managers and generations. 

Referring to the autonomy project in the southern provinces in the framework of Moroccan sovereignty, M. El Malki noted that "Morocco, under the leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, has sought to block the path to the illusions feeding separatism and put an end to an artificial conflict through the establishment of a democratic enlarged regionalization". 

The Minister added that his department has adopted regionalization, calling on all family education members to make the proposed expanded autonomy successful.

For his part, the Wali of the region of Laayoune-Boujdour-Sakia El-Hamra, M. M'hamed Dryef, stressed that the meeting "comes at an important time marked by many national and regional challenges, headed by the national initiative for human development which is a pioneer royal and national project". 

Mr. Dryef called for the mobilisation of everyone to succeed the reform projects in the education system which is an essential component of sustainable and global development.

For his part, the director of the Academy of education and training in the region of Laayoune-Boujdour-Sakia El-Hamra, M. Ben Ahmed Zai, presented the 2006 Review of the Academy, expressing his satisfaction over the results achieved.

After the meeting, the Council of Directors of the Regional Academy has adopted the draft budget and action plan for the current year.
