The UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, has strongly denounced, in his report to the Security Council on the Moroccan Sahara issue, the drastic and unacceptable restrictions imposed on MINURSO by the "polisario", since its unilateral withdrawal from the cease-fire.

The report criticizes the "polisario" for obstructing MINURSO's ability to carry out its primary mission of monitoring the cease-fire, controlling the militias of this armed group, and observing the situation on the ground.

Guterres brought to the attention of the Security Council that his Special Representative and head of MINURSO have repeatedly protested against these restrictions.

Despite these protests, the "polisario" has continued to impose significant limitations on MINURSO's freedom of movement, prohibiting it from carrying out logistical and maintenance missions - repair, maintenance, and rotation of equipment, as well as the supply of fuel and food products to the UN Mission.

This situation prompted MINURSO to reduce the number of its military observers in the east of the security structure by 30%.

The UN Secretary-General called on the separatist movement to "immediately lift all restrictions on the free movement of ground convoys, air transport resources and MINURSO personnel in the east of the security structure as well as to allow the free movement of logistics and maintenance services."
