The Sahrawi Group for Human Rights Defence (CSDDH) launched on Monday from Geneva, which was holding the 7th session of the Human Rights Council, an urgent appeal to the UN Secretary General and the international community to intervene in order to put an end to human rights violations by "Polisario", whose victims are sequestered in the Tindouf camps (southwestern Algeria).



The Group also calls upon the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights and human rights NGOs to "initiate an emergency surveys to discover the serious abuses that continue to be committed in the camps".

In addition, it denounces "the impunity enjoyed by the leaders of these camps of shame which must end", demanding the opening of investigations relating to the cases of "torture, kidnapping and disappearances" as well as the diversion of humanitarian aids to populations sequestered by Polisario leadership aided by Algeria". Moreover, the Group calls "all human rights defenders around the world, not to be found at odds with the universal declarations, conventions and traditions banning inhuman treatment".

The signatories of this appeal is composed of the Unity and Development Association, l'Association de La Tribune assahraouie pour l'unité et la fraternité, based in Laayoune, Arrai Association (Dakhla) and the Amal Association for the legitimacy and territorial integrity (Boujdour).
