Political and non-governmental actors from several Latin American countries have expressed their support for autonomy plan proposed by Morocco for its southern provinces, as being a final and just solution to the dispute over the Moroccan Sahara.


"We call on our counterparts in Latin America to support the autonomy plan presented by the Kingdom of Morocco as a final and realistic solution (to the Sahara) which guarantees the establishment of a lasting peace for the economic development of this region"said the Honduras-Morocco parliamentary friendship group, Nicaragua-Morocco parliamentary friendship group and the Bolivia-Morocco parliamentary friendship group as well as the Global Africa Latina foundation, which brings together a collective of non-member organizations. Latin American governments, in a joint statement sent to MAP on Tuesday.


These political and non-governmental actors also called for work to promote the development of parliamentary diplomacy and South-South cooperation with the Kingdom, expressing their aspiration to "create and develop a rich political, economic and cultural exchange with their Moroccan counterparts. , taking into account current dynamics and the need to build bridges between continents ".


They also stressed the importance of creating a framework to strengthen relations with Morocco and to develop a common action plan for this purpose, as well as the need to move forward in the axes of parliamentary diplomacy and to achieve positive progress in the interests of both parties.
