The Japanese Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs, Mr Yasuhide Nakayama, reiterated, in Rabat Monday, the support of his country to a peaceful and negotiated solution to the Sahara issue, within the framework of the United Nations. In a statement to the press after a meeting with Ms. Latifa Akharbach, State Secretary to the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, the Japanese official insisted on the importance of stability in the Maghreb and the strengthening of ties between countries in the region.



Referring to bilateral relations, Mr. Nakayama praised "exemplary" links between Morocco and Japan and expressed the hope that these exchanges will be consolidated further.

For her part, Ms. Akharbach recalled that Japan is the second largest supplier in the Kingdom in terms of official development assistance, stressing that his meeting with the Japan official has been an opportunity to explore ways to deepen and broaden the scope of this cooperation.

Ms. Akharbach said that the Japan official expressed interest in the expansion of tripartite cooperation existing between Morocco, Japan and African countries, from the experience gained by Morocco in this field.
