In its explanation of vote on resolution 2548 on the Moroccan Sahara, adopted by the Security Council, China considered that a new Personal Envoy of the Secretary-General should be appointed "to facilitate the resumption of the Geneva Roundtable process and create favorable conditions for moving "towards a political solution to this regional dispute.
"China will continue to maintain an objective and fair position" and to encourage the parties to find "a just, durable and mutually acceptable political solution through dialogue and negotiation on the basis of the relevant Security Council resolutions," underlined the Chinese delegation to the UN.
