This third round is taking place in a two-day closed-door meting in the presence of the UN envoy and facilitator Peter Van Walsum
The Moroccan delegation takes part in these talks with the aim to achieving a final political to the Sahara dispute based on the Moroccan initiative for negotiating an autonomy statute for the Sahara region
While the talks are taking place , the international community is waiting for the outcome of this round , and reactions about the on-going talks are felt all over the world for instance the American council for Moroccan Pows(ACMP) said in a letter sent to the UN secretary general that Algeria should be invited to take part in the Sahara talks as a full-fledged party not only as an observer because it has undertaken “serious, deliberate and substantial efforts” to maintain and perpetuate this conflict .
The council also called on the UN SG and the UN security council to inform Algeria and the Polisario that the Sahara issue, should be settled in a peaceful manner, and that the threats of violence and terrorism against Morocco are unacceptable and go against the will of the international community.
While the NGO’S all over the world are requiring a political solution to the Sahara issue, Morocco has created a momentum. It is in practical terms thanks to the Kingdom of Morocco that there is a negotiation, in this respect the Moroccan foreign minister Taieb fassi Fihri said on Tuesday» not only do Morocco and Algeria have the possibility to reach together a solution to the Sahara issue, but they can also build the sahel-sahara region which is land to all illegal traffic and open to numerous threats”
When it comes to the Royal advisory council for Saharan affairs( CORCAS) which is represented in the Moroccan delegation by its chairman and his general secretary, and is playing a major role in the process of reaching a political settlement to the conflict in question its chairman Mr Khalihenna Ould Errachid made it clear when he said that “Algeria has to cooperate to secure success to these negotiations by exerting pressure on the Polisario so that it renounces demanding impossible solutions”
The Corcas chairman even deplored the fact that Algeria has not engaged in guaranteeing success to these negotiations to reach a settlement of this dispute , noting that the polisario, for its part, pursues its provocations through ever-cvontradictory stances;
There is no doubt that a big number of recent statements and press conferences have hoped that Algeria will have to change completely its stance , and get involved in a such manner to make the Polisario accepts the Moroccan Substantial autonomy proposal, as a basis of any political settlement to the Sahara conflict
