Mexico expressed, Tuesday at the United Nations headquarters in New York, its support for a "fair, sustainable and mutually acceptable" solution to the Moroccan Sahara issue.
"The Mexican Government reaffirms its support for the ongoing negotiation process to reach a fair, lasting and mutually acceptable political solution to the Sahara issue" in accordance with the relevant resolutions of the Security Council and the General Assembly, Mexico's representative said before the Fourth Committee of the UN General Assembly.
Welcoming in this regard the efforts of UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and his former Personal Envoy for the Sahara, Horst Kohler, the Mexican diplomat called on all the concerned parties to maintain their commitment to this process in order to achieve a compromise and move towards a "solution that is acceptable to all".
