The UN Mission in the Sahara (MINURSO) refuses to meet with Polisario leaders outside Rabbouni, in Algeria, the venue where such meetings have always been held, UN sources said on Thursday.

"Since his arrival late December 2017, the Secretary-General Special Representative Colin Stewart, chose to abide by the long-standing practice of holding such meetings in Rabbouni, Algeria," said UN spokesperson Stéphane Dujarric in a press briefing.

The Secretary-General Special Representative refused to leave Bir Lahlou, as requested by the leaders of the front, which is seeking by this manoeuvre to obtain a recognition from the UN, and to trick the international community on the real status of the zone east of the security structure.
