Sheikhs and tribal dignitaries in the southern provinces of the Kingdom praised actions taken by the Council of Ministers, on Friday, regarding military justice and promoting the rule of law.


In statements to Maghreb Arab Press agency , they expressed their satisfaction over these important actions , highlighting the fact of being a model in the Arab world which embodies Morocco’s constitutional and international obligations in the field of human rights and their protection .

 In this context , Mr. Hamdi Ould Errachid, MP and chairman of the Council of Laayoune- Boujdour - Sakia El Hamra , said that "the actions taken by the Council of Ministers concerning the military judiciary and strengthening mechanisms for the protection of human rights is a courageous decision and a model in the Arab world".

 He added that Morocco is engaged in the field of human rights protection, highlighting that the mechanisms of human rights in Morocco became a model at the continental and international levels , through the interaction of the Kingdom with the UN human rights mechanisms and its involvement in building and expanding the space of freedom and respect for human rights .

 For his part, Mr. Mohamed Talbi , actor activist and member of the Royal Advisory Council for Saharan Affairs , said that the actions taken by the Kingdom concerning military justice and rule of law reflects the important place occupied by Morocco at the continental and international levels in the field of promotion and protection of human rights .

 He added that the actions taken in this regard stems from the constitutional and international obligations in the field of protection of human rights , pointing out that these actions constitute a response against tendentious campaigns for opponents of the territorial integrity of the Kingdom who do not respect the most basic rights.

 Meanwhile , Mr. Mohammed Salem Cherkaoui , head of Regional Committee for Human Rights Laayopune - Smara , the decision taken by the Council of Ministers on Friday in connection with military justice and rule of law , noting that these actions reflect the fast interaction and effectively response by the government with complaints and suggestions received from the Council and its committees in the southern provinces of the Kingdom: Laayoune, Dakhla and Tan-Tan , and constitute a fundamental turning point in the path of strengthening the rule of law and human rights .

 He added , in a statement to the Agency, that the government's decision falls within the context of the activation of the new Constitution of the Kingdom , which " gave the Council extended power and independence , urging positive interaction with government authorities and the parliament ."

 He pointed out that national institutions for human rights in Morocco played a central role in promoting the advancement of new human rights mechanisms by encouraging the government to become a party to the new agreements for Human Rights , as well as their own protocols . He highlighted that the national constitutional institutions played an important role in ensuring the integration of human rights principles in education institutions, schools and universities , as well as in training programs for law enforcement officials .

 Mrs. Khadija Abladi , MP and activist , stressed, in a similar statement , that the actions taken regarding the abolition of civilians trail before military court in Morocco is " a positive step " that strengthenes guarantees of a fair trial and the independence of the judiciary and rule of law .
