On the sidelines of the visit by the French Prime Minister Jean-Marc Ayrault to Algeria, the spokesman of the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs Romain Nadal reiterated Wednesday, December 18, Paris constant position supporting autonomy plan proposed by Morocco on the Sahara issue.

France 's position is clear and consistent about the Sahara issue , said the spokesman of the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs Romain Nadal , noting that President François Hollande had the opportunity to stress when he visited Morocco April 3-4.

Morocco presented in 2007 an autonomy plan for the Sahara that France considered a serious and credible basis for a negotiated solution, said the spokesman, adding that the status quo is not in anyone's interest.

We have long supported the search for a just, lasting and mutually agreed solution under the auspices of the United Nations and in accordance with the Security Council resolutions to find a political solution, he said at the weekly press briefing.

He added that France supports the efforts of the Special Envoy of the UN Secretary General, Christopher Ross. We maintain a regular dialogue with him and with major stakeholders.
