In a letter sent to the president of the Moroccan parliament addressed by the Group of the Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats in the European Parliament by its president Hannes Swoboda and Vice President Véronique De Keyser, the European parliamentary group stressed the need to find a quick solution to the conflict in the Moroccan Sahara.

The release of the House of Representatives mentioned Monday after a visit to Morocco, including the southern provinces, by the delegation of the Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats in the European Parliament that the visit was aimed to examine the situation in the region and take into account the reasons that hinder a mutually acceptable political solution to the conflict over the Sahara region.

President of the House of Representatives said he received a letter from the president of the delegation and its vice-president in which they stressed the need to find a quick solution to the conflict in the Moroccan Sahara, especially in a context marked by political changes in the Maghreb region and the very disturbing regional security situation.

The group specified in his letter the importance of democratic development in the Kingdom, highlighting its belief that political, economic and social reforms undertaken by Morocco and regionalization established by the Moroccan Constitution will promote an acceptable political solution to Sahara conflict.

The same source added that the group reiterated the European Union support to these reforms as part of its new neighborhood policy.
