Mr. Eckhart Von Malsen, international law expert and former member of the Office of the High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), regrets the harsh living and extremely difficult conditions in camps in Tindouf, saying that the "living conditions I been able to see in these camps were absolute cruel."


Eckhart Von Malsen who spent six months in the Tindouf camps in 1998 said in a statement to the press on Friday on the sidelines of a seminar at the European Parliament on the status of Sahrawi women in Tindouf camps that the population of detainees in these camps, "lives in very difficult conditions without prospects,"referring to the "tense atmosphere" causing "heavy burden" on these camps.



"All people who came to speak to us were observerd by Polisario, all our movements and actions were controlled," he added.
