The Special Envoy of the United Nations Organizations to the Moroccan Sahara, Christopher Ross, began Monday in Morocco a tour in North Africa and Europe to meet parties to this artificial conflict and revive negotiations for a political solution.

Christopher Ross's visit to the region was possible, since the withdrawal by Morocco of its confidence in the Personal Envoy, due to his lack of impartiality, only after a telephone communication that took place between King Mohammed VI and the UN Secretary General, which enabled to bring things to normal again.

The UN Secretary General, Ban Ki-moon, stated that the United Nations does not intend to change the terms of the mediation mission of his Personal Envoy which aims to support the search for a political solution mutually acceptable to both parties in accordance with criteria specified by the security Council, namely to show realism and a spirit of compromise, and recognize the serious and credible characters of the efforts made under the United autonomy initiative.

In this context, a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation said that the visit of Mr. Ross, arrived Saturday at the Kingdom, and who will continue his visit until mid-November, "is part of efforts to revitalize the political process aimed at finding a lasting political solution to the regional dispute over the Moroccan Sahara.»
