The chairman of the royal advisory council for Saharan affairs, Mr Khalihenna Ould Errachid , made a statement in an article published last Saturday by  the  Argentinean press agency “Télam” following a visit paid on the first of august to Rabat by a delegation of journalists from south America. He said  that  wide-spread anarchy  in the Sahara and Sahel region  is out of control which threatens Algerians themselves.

Mr Ould Errachid asserted that the chaotic situation in the Sahara and Sahel region because of the insecurity is “ in a such scale that it allows to anybody, to kill, steal money, and  kidnap as a result  of freedom of movement without the intervention of the USA, the European community or anybody else” he added  that this chaotic situation ‘ will make the Algerians victims themselves”

The article concluded that the crisis in the region of “western Sahara” goes beyond  the preoccupation  of  governments of the region reaching the  European governments , because of the fact that the Jihadist groups are hiding behind the independence  claims , and also controlling substantial areas thinks to the  money coming from smuggling , drugs , and the kidnapping of foreigners

The council chairman concluded that the kidnapping of foreigners in the region is a huge business which goes  beyond  the Polisario, adding that hostages are not freed without a financial compensation .

The article talked about the unsettled situation which can explode any time in the sahara and sahel region, and reported  a testimony made by a security official in the Polisario front who asserted that “the situation is getting worse because of the extremely high rate of unemployeemnt in the camps” adding  that “ youth in the camps can be easily subject of the influence of drug dealers and terrorists“
