The Ministerial Conference of Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) expressed on Thursday after finishing its works in Sharm El Sheikh in Egypt, its support to the negotiations process on the regional dispute over the Moroccan Sahara within the UN framework to reach a "mutually acceptable political solution".

The foreign ministers "welcomed the negotiations process held under the auspices of the UN Secretary General and the parties' commitment to continue to show political will and work in an atmosphere propitious for dialogue in order to enter a more intensive phase of negotiations," said the final declaration of the meeting of the NAM Coordinating Bureau.

The ministers added that the objective is also to ensure the success of negotiations and the implementation of the last 7 Security Council resolutions, which stressed that Moroccan autonomy initiative is serious and credible.

These resolutions call on the parties to enter into intense and substantial negotiations, with realism and a spirit of compromise, they said.

In this regard, they stressed the relevance of the option of autonomy proposed by Morocco, highlighting the efforts of the Kingdom since 2006 to find a solution to this issue.

The conference, to which Morocco was represented by a strong delegation led by Delegate Minister for Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Youssef Amrani, also welcomed the commitment of the parties to continue the negotiation process through talks sponsored by the UN.

The Ministers expressed the readiness of the Movement to "continue to strongly support the efforts of the Secretary-General and his Special Envoy to reach a political settlement that is mutually acceptable."
