The relations between Morocco and Algeria "are of crucial importance" to settle the Sahara issue, said Monday the Foreign Office minister in charge of the Middle East and North Africa, Alistair Burt.



The official, who was speaking at a press briefing after talks in London with the Minister Delegate at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Youssef Amrani, noted that the rapprochement between Morocco and Algeria "can make a difference" to settle the Sahara issue.

  "We welcome the commitment expressed by Morocco and Algeria to work together," he said.

 Burt, who reiterated the readiness of his country to continue supporting the efforts of the personal envoy of UN Secretary General, Christopher Ross, to achieve a solution to the Sahara issue, described as "constructive proposals", in reference to autonomy presented by Morocco to find a definitive solution to this issue.

 Moreover, Burt welcomed positive developments of the human rights situation in Morocco.
