"We have been fighting for this cause," he said, adding that Gambia will spare no effort "for the return of Morocco to the African family", in reference to the African Union.

He said Morocco and Gambia are bound by "excellent" relations that are poised to be strengthened, recalling the visit paid by HM King Mohammed VI in February 2006 during which the two countries expressed willingness to further consolidate bilateral ties.

In this connection, the Gambian official said the current bilateral meeting offers an opportunity to assess the agreements that were signed during the first Joint Commission, held in Banjul in 2006.

He also shed light on the multiple facets of the Moroccan support for Gambia which covers several areas such economy, health and education.
