A delegation of Spanish businessmen is currently undertaking a working visit to Dakhla to explore business opportunities, meet actors of the economy and authorities in the region.

 



This delegation including officials from three Spanish companies, met on Tuesday, the director of the Regional Investment Centre (RIC), Mohamed Abdellah Bouhjar, who presented to his hosts an overview about the fastest growing industries in the region of Dakhla.

The RIC head made a presentation on the achievements in infrastructure and programs that have been made to provide the region with the infrastructure necessary to firstly ensure the necessary conditions for development and to boost the key sectors of the regional economy, namely tourism and fisheries.

Mr. Bouhjar who insisted on the socio-economic development in the tourism, agriculture, fishing and wind energy sectors, expressed the willingness of local officials to support and encourage investors in the region.

Responding to questions from the Spanish delegation, the RIC Director gave an overview of the development qualitative indicators in different productive sectors to support efforts to strengthen basic infrastructure in the region, develop its urban framework and strengthen its attractiveness.

In a statement to the press after the meeting, Javier Prats Ferre, a member of the Spanish delegation, and chief of a group based in Tarragona in Spain, highlighted the growth seen in Dakhla a city with a bright future, because of its distinguished location and its diverse strengths.

He said the visit allows members of the Spanish delegation to be informed about business opportunities, investment climate in Dakhla, and the benefits and facilities provided to investors, while examining the opportunities to forge partnerships with local operators.

He welcomed also the great reputation enjoyed by the city of Dakhla, as an open and welcoming city and as one of the popular tourist destinations worldwide.
