In a letter addressed on March 4 to the House of Representatives, Deputy Foreign Minister Patti Londono Jaramillo recalled that “Colombia decided since 2001 to freeze its recognition of the SADR.”

Since then, says the letter, Colombia adopted a position supporting the efforts undertaken under the aegis of the UN.

The reiteration of the Colombian government’s position regarding the Sahara issue came following stands taken by some MPs from the leftist coalition in support of separatists.
