Under this programme, family members living in the Moroccan southern provinces visit their relatives in the Tindouf camps in south-western Algeria, and vice-versa.
The new visit exchange, the eighth in 2011, benefited 63 people from 12 families. Thus, 30 people flew from Laayoune to the camps, while 33 members of 7 families flew from the camps to the southern provinces, the Moroccan Coordination Office with the UN mission in the Sahara (MINURSO) said in a statement.
Since its launch in March 2004, the UNHCR-led family visit exchange programme has benefited 10,630 people, including 5,489 from Tindouf camps.
