The city of Dakhla boasts attractive opportunities and an investment climate which offers favourable conditions for sustainable development, said on Wednesday the delegation of the Friends of Morocco in Germany Association, following a three-day visit to the region.

This visit was organized in partnership with the Agency of social and economic development and promotion in the Kingdom's southern provinces, as a key-actor in the implementation of the different economic and social programs and projects, within the framework of an integrated development approach aimed at reinforcing basic infrastructure, enhancing local assets, boosting the region's attractiveness and promoting the local population's lifestyle.

The members of the delegation, led by German deputy and chairman of the Friends of Morocco in Germany Association Jurgen Klimke, met with wali of Oued-Eddahab-Lagouira region and governor of Oued-Eddahab province Hamid Chabar, as well as with the president of Dakhla’s town council and the director of the investment regional center, and visited social and economic facilities in the city.

These meetings were an occasion to outline before the German delegation the issue of territorial integrity, the long-standing ties between tribes in southern Morocco and the broad lines of the Moroccan autonomy initiative proposed by Morocco to solve, once and for all, the Sahara conflict.

In a statement to the press, Jurgen underlined the climate of stability prevailing in the region of Oued-Eddahab-Lagouira and its potentialities mainly in fisheries, tourism and wind energy.

He said that this visit is an occasion to foster bilateral relations and explore new means of partnership and coordination between Moroccan and German businessmen.
