"We support this initiative which should be given a chance through negotiations," Egyptian Foreign Minister said at a press briefing with Morocco's Foreign Minister Taib Fassi Fihri at the end of his visit to the Kingdom.
Aboul Gheit lauded this initiative which is largely endorsed by the international community and recalled that Egypt's position, which dates back to 2007, stresses autonomy as a basis for settling the Sahara conflict through negotiations.
The Egyptian official arrived on Tuesday to Rabat for a visit to Morocco during which he discussed with several Moroccan officials the means to reinforce bilateral relations.
The talks also touched on issues relating notably to the situation in Iraq, Lebanon and Yemen in addition to the latest developments of the Palestinian cause.
The means to invigorate the meeting mechanism of the Foreign Ministers of the countries parties to the Agadir Agreement (Morocco, Egypt, Jordan and Tunisia) were also on top of the agenda, in addition to the revitalization of the Moroccan-Egyptian high joint commission, which held its last meeting in 2006.
