The US Senate Select Committee on Intelligence chairman Dianne Feinstein called the Secretary of State Hillary Clinton for the intervention of the State Department in order to clarify the fate that awaited Mustapha Salma Ould Sidi Mouloud, whose family has still no news about him.

Your assistance in obtaining information on Mr. Sidi Mouloud's whereabouts and circumstances is greatly appreciated," Feinstein said in a letter to the US Secretary of State, expressing "concern for the safety and well-being of Mustapha Salma Ould Sidi Mouloud."

The US official, who also called for the "immediate release" of Ould Sidi Mouloud, underlined that "at the very least, he should be allowed access to his family."

Feinstein recalled that Ould Sidi Mouloud Sidi “was detained because of his public praise of Morocco’s solution to the Sahara conflict” and “his intent to return” to the Tindouf camps to defend it.

Nobody in these camps “should be arrested, detained and denied due process simply for expressing his view” on the Sahara issue, she said, recalling the statements by the international human rights organizations, such as Human Rights Watch, Amnesty International, the UNHCR staff, and the Leadership Council on Human Rights, on this issue.
