The case of Mustapha Salma Ould Sidi Mouloud, former security official of the Polisario, "is likely to be repeated for a long period," as long as the Sahara issue remains under the status quo, said the Italian newspaper "Republica" in its Tuesday edition.

In an article devoted to his arrest on the Algerian territory, the newspaper says that Mr. Mustapha Salma, a dissident of the Polisario Front called on the international community to protect his life threatened by Polisario Front since he decided to support the solution granting autonomy to the Sahara proposed by Morocco, deciding to return to the Tindouf camps, where his family lives to defend his position.

Citing the case of Aminatou Haider alongside that of Mustafa Salma, the paper focuses on the situation of division facing the Polisario Front over the Sahara issue. The "Republica" believes that the repetition of these two cases for a long period" is probable, because of the freeze of this "internecine conflict" since the establishment by the United Nations of a cease- ceasefire between the two parties in 1991 and the failure of the UN to organize a referendum deemed impossible by the paper.

The Italian paper speaks about developments in the case of Mustapha Salma Ould Sidi Mouloud, reactions, the strong mobilization of the Moroccan community in Italy, for the protection of the Life of Mr. Ould Sidi Mouloud and members of his family. This community calls upon all organizations and associations in Italy, especially those working in the field of human rights, to carry out "popular mobilization" in this sense.

The paper also mentions the concern of the Human Rights Watch regarding the health of Mr. Mustafa Salma after his arrest by armed Polisario militia on his way back to Tindouf. In addition, it highlighted the Moroccan position calling the Secretary-General of the United Nations to exert pressure on Algeria for the release of the former Polisario head, given that the Polisario is on its land.
