Morocco closely follows the case of the senior polisario official, Mustapha Selma Ould Sidi Mouloud, who may face acts of retaliation by the polisario leadership when he returns to the Tindouf camps (south-western Algeria), said, on Thursday, Khalid Naciri Communication Minister and Government Spokesman.

The Royal Advisory Council for Human Rights (CCDH) received a letter from Mostafa Salma Sidi Mouloud, in which he expressed fear of facing "possible retaliation by the polisario leadership," when he returns to the Tindouf camps, the Minister told the press following the cabinet meeting.

He said the CCDH drew the attention of the international human rights organizations to this case, which "imposes itself upon the human conscience".

The CCDH urged, in a statement, all sister national institutions, including the National Consultative Human Rights Commission of Algeria, all international agencies and all national and international human rights associations to do their best so that Mr. Mostafa Salma Sidi Mouloud can return to Tindouf safely and defend his opinions freely.

“Given the deplorable human rights situation in the camps, and the illegal character of these camps under the international humanitarian law, the fear of retaliation expressed by Mr. Mostafa Salma Sidi Mouloud is to be taken seriously,” the CCDH said.

In this respect, the Kingdom attributes responsibility to Algeria and the polisario, Naciri said, adding that Mustapha Selma Ould Sidi Mouloud showed exceptional courage when he unveiled the situation prevailing in the Tindouf camps.

Mustapha Selma Ould Sidi Mouloud, who is currently the Chief Inspector of the polisario's police, expressed, in a press conference on August 9 in Smara, his intention to support the autonomy plan among the population held against their will in Tindouf camps.
