"The Sahara is a key issue for Morocco and the whole region. We hope that after the approval of Resolution 1920 of the UN Security Council, the contacts will move forward in seeking a fair, balanced and acceptable solution by the parties,” Puchades told French-speaking daily "Le Matin du Sahara et du Maghreb" in an interview published on Monday.
He also hailed relations between Madrid and Rabat, adding that regular contacts at the diplomatic level allow both parties to tackle bilateral issues as well as regional or international initiatives of common interest.
"There is also a regular contact between the two countries' various institutions (parliaments, Supreme Courts, Ombudsman…), and between different departments of the two governments,” said Puchades.
At the economic level, he said that Morocco is the second market for Spain outside the EU (nearly 7 billion Euros of imports and exports), adding that over 1,000 Spanish companies are operating in Morocco and their number increases day by day due to the dynamism of the Moroccan economy and geographic proximity.
